A key contest in the Eastern Conference is ahead as Columbus Crew SC play host to the Montreal Impact at Mapfre Stadium on Saturday evening. Crew SC saw their winless run extended to four games at midweek, dropping a 3-0 decision at Philadelphia Union which left them mid-table in the division. The Impact continued their steady rise up the standings, winning for a third time in four games at midweek with a 2-1 home win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
- Home field ruled a year ago, as each team won their home meetings – Crew SC winning both matches in Columbus, last a 2-0 win on Sept. 27, and the Impact the lone contest played in Montréal, a 2-0 victory on Aug. 30 that was just their second victory in the series.
- Crew SC have won all five encounters lifetime in Columbus. The Crew won 2-1 Sept. 14, 2013 at Stade Saputo, the only victory by the away team in nine meetings in the all-time series.
- Crew SC return home after a midweek encounter in Philadelphia riding a four-game undefeated streak at Mapfre Stadium. Their only home defeat this year came March 28, to the New York Red Bulls.
- In four matches in league play this season away from Stade Saputo, the Impact have not scored a goal, conceded seven goals in dropping all four decisions.
