Foes in the MLS Cup Playoffs a season ago, the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew SC meet for the first time this season when the clubs face off Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution have won two games in a row off a three-game goalless start, their last match a 2-0 win at the Colorado Rapids last weekend. Crew SC started off their bicoastal road trip with a quality result, gaining a 2-2 draw at overall leader Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Wednesday evening.
  • Lee Nguyen scored his first goal of the season, and Kelyn Rowe added an assist following a two-goal game the week before, as the Revolution won their second match on the trot in their 2-0 victory at the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. The Revs are 2-0-1 after dropping their opening two matches.
  • During the regular season a year ago, Crew SC won two of the three meetings, including a 2-1 win July 26 at Gillette Stadium, their first victory there since 2011.
  • But the Revolution won both legs of the Eastern Conference Semifinal Series between the teams, a 4-2 victory in Columbus in the first leg, then a 3-1 triumph in Foxborough in the return match to win the series 7-3 on aggregate.

NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION vs SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES
GILLETTE STADIUM, Foxborough, Mass.
March 28, 2015 (WEEK 4, MLS Game #27)
3 p.m. ET (MLS LIVE)
Two clubs who have started the season in opposite directions meet in an intersectional clash when the New England Revolution play host to the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution have yet to score a goal this year, gaining their first point of the campaign last weekend a home scoreless draw with the Montréal Impact. The Quakes have won back-to-back matches off a long winless run, inaugurating their new Avaya Stadium home in fine fashion last Sunday with a 2-1 win against the Chicago Fire.
  • The Revolution were shut out for a third consecutive match to start the season, but took their first point following a scoreless draw with the Montréal Impact on Saturday. The longest a team has gone without scoring from the start of the season was in 2007, when Toronto FC started the year without a goal in 383 minutes. The Revolution saw their overall league scoreless drought reach 325 minutes, dating back to last season.
  • Rookie Fatai Alashe scored the first goal in Avaya Stadium history as the Earthquakes inaugurated their new stadium with a 2-1 win against the Chicago Fire. It was the second win in a row for the Quakes after putting an end to a 16-game winless streak dating back to last August.
  • Ty Harden – making his 100th career league appearance – scored his first MLS goal and also assisted on the Quakes’ opener.
  • The Revolution have won the last two meetings between the teams over the last two seasons, including a 2-1 win at Buck Shaw Stadium last year in the only match between the clubs.
  • The Revolution won 2-0 in 2013 in the last meeting at Gillette Stadium; that was their first home win vs. the Quakes since the 2009 season. That win in 2013 ended a five-game New England winless run vs. San Jose.
