One of the fiercest rivalries to spring up over the last few years is renewed when Real Salt Lake play host to the LA Galaxy on Wednesday evening at Rio Tinto Stadium. The teams have met three times in the last four years in the MLS Cup Playoffs, the Galaxy rolling to a conference semifinals victory last year. Real come into the game after putting an end to a long goalless drought in a 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes last Friday evening, while the Galaxy havenít lost in four games after their 1-1 home draw with the Colorado Rapids last weekend.
  • It took an own goal, but Real Salt Lake put an end to their goalless streak at 387 minutes – the longest in MLS this season – in their 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday evening. It was RSL’s first goal since April 5, when they defeated San Jose 1-0 – it’s the second-longest goalless drought in the club’s history.
  • The Galaxy extended their undefeated streak to four games with a second consecutive tie with their 1-1 draw against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday evening at StubHub Center.
  • The teams have met three times in the last four years in the MLS Cup Playoffs. The Galaxy have advanced on two occasions, including in last year’s Western Conference Semifinals, when they took the series after a 5-0 win in the second leg at StubHub Center.   • Real remain one of two teams still undefeated in MLS this season, now with a 2-0-3 record following a scoreless draw at Sporting Kansas City on Saturday. RSL has recorded back-to-back shutouts and has not conceded a goal away from Rio Tinto Stadium in three games this season.
  • Whitecaps FC saw their five-game undefeated streak come to an end in a 1-0 defeat at the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday evening. It was the first game this year where Vancouver was shut out; it was also the first goal they had allowed on the road this season.
  • Whitecaps FC defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1 in the final meeting between the teams a year ago, Sept. 27 at BC Place, their first win in the series since Aug. 11, 2012. Real had won two of the six meetings in between, with four draws.

The MLS Cup finalists just two seasons ago, Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake meet for the only time during the league campaign when the clubs clash Saturday evening at Sporting Park. SKC have won back-to-back matches, their last win an historic comeback in stoppage time to take a 3-2 home triumph against Philadelphia Union last Sunday. Real are still undefeated on the season following their second win on the trot, a 1-0 win at the San Jose Earthquakes last Sunday.
  • Sporting became the seventh team in MLS history to reverse a deficit in stoppage time, scoring the tying and winning goals after the 90th minute in their 3-2 victory against Philadelphia Union on Sunday afternoon. Krisztian Nemeth scored the winner (94+) after Jalil Anibaba netted the equalizer; Benny Feilhaber set up two of Sporting’s three goals and now leads MLS with four assists this season.
  • Javier Morales scored his second goal this season from a free kick to lead Real Salt Lake to their second consecutive win, a 1-0 victory at the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday afternoon as they remain undefeated on the season. The goals are Morales’ first directly from free kicks since the 2012 season.
  • MLS Cup 2013 opponents, the clubs reached a scoreless draw in their lone meeting a year ago, April 5 at Sporting Park.
  • RSL has never won at Sporting Park in four meetings lifetime, including MLS Cup 2013. RSL last won in Kansas City in 2009 (at CommunityAmerica Ballpark). Sporting won on their last trip to Utah, in 2013.

Real return to action following a weekend off, reaching their second draw in as many matches in a 3-3 result with Philadelphia Union two weeks ago. TFC also return to league play off a bye week, their last match a 2-0 defeat at the Columbus Crew two weekends ago.
