Two Western Conference clubs looking to reverse recent skids meet on Viernes de Fútbol when the Colorado Rapids take on FC Dallas for a third time this season at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids have won just once in their last nine matches, winless in their last three games, after a scoreless draw with Real Salt Lake in their last league game. FC Dallas are concluding their five-game road swing riding a five-game winless streak, following their 3-0 defeat at Seattle Sounders FC in their last league game.
- The Rapids saw their winless streak extended to three games with their second shutout in that time in their last match, a scoreless draw with Real Salt Lake on June 7 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
- It’s the final match of a five-game road swing for FC Dallas – where they’ve gone winless in the first four with three losses, following the 3-0 defeat at Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday. FCD are winless in their last five games overall (0-3-2) and have not scored a goal in the last 283 minutes of league play.
- The teams are meeting for the third time this season. They played twice in a three-week span in April. The Rapids put an end to their long winless and goalless streaks with a dominant 4-0 win vs. FC Dallas on April 10 at Toyota Stadium; a late Nick LaBrocca goal for Colorado left the teams in a 1-1 tie April 24 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

- FC Dallas took the lead in the 32nd minute. Fabian Castillo sliced through the Rapids backline on a mazy dribbling run before dishing the ball to Mauro Diaz, who buried a low shot from the left side of the box for the opener.
- The match turned just before the hour mark. FC Dallas striker Blas Perez committed a foul away from the ball on Rapids defender Drew Moor, and referee Allen Chapman showed a red card.
- With the man advantage, the Rapids finally pulled even in the 79th minute. A long ball from Lucas Pittinari was sent through to Dillon Powers, and he headed goalward where Nick LaBrocca bravely charged in to touch the ball into the back of the net as he was clattered into by FCD goalkeeper Dan Kennedy.

VALPARAÍSO -- La selección de Perú quiere comenzar a ganar para seguir con opciones en el grupo C frente a una Venezuela que vaticina otra batalla en busca de dar un paso hacia los cuartos de final de la Copa América 2015.
Peruanos y venezolanos disputan en Valparaíso el partido que cierra la segunda jornada de su llave en el Elías Figueroa Brander.
A los incaicos Neymar los dejó sin nada, pues Brasil se impuso por 2-1 en el último minuto en el primer encuentro, mientras que la Vinotinto dio la sorpresa en su debut al superar por 0-1 a Colombia.
En el conjunto peruano del argentino Ricardo Gareca existe preocupación porque el atacante Jefferson Farfán no se ha podido recuperar de una alergia en la planta del pie, por lo que está en duda para el choque de mañana.
Si 'la Foquita' no se recupera, en su lugar estará el delantero de Bayern Múnich Claudio Pizarro, quien durante la práctica del martes jugó durante un tiempo junto a Paolo Guerrero.
El que sí será de la partida es el jugador del Fiorentina Juan Vargas, quien salió del encuentro frente a Brasil por una lesión en el tobillo, pero que estará en condiciones de saltar al césped ante Venezuela.
Para optar al triunfo, Perú necesita mejorar su concentración defensiva en acciones puntuales como la que le privó del empate con los brasileños.
Gareca pretende repetir ante Venezuela el planteamiento ofensivo y de presión avanzada que tanto complicó a la Canarinha.
En la Vinotinto, por su parte, el seleccionador Noel Sanvicente tiene una incógnita en la alineación entre Josef Martínez o Luis Manuel Seijas.
'Chita' quiere seguir con su manual de estilo: quitarle el balón al rival y asfixiarle con la ocupación de sus rutas de salida, como le funcionó contra Colombia.
El éxito táctico del domingo pasado, con una inesperada línea de cinco en la mitad, puede repetir este jueves frente a una necesitada selección peruana que requerirá de espacios para maniobrar.
Como uno de los argumentos de Sanvicente es "no dejar pensar al rival", es posible que el delantero del Torino Josef Martínez, quien marcó el gol a Perú en el amistoso en marzo en Miami (1-0), vuelva a ser el sacrificado.
Seijas volvería entonces a formar un primer muro de contención, desde la banda izquierda, al lado de Tomás Rincón y Juan Arango, quien juega en Chile su sexta Copa América.
Sanvicente, el técnico que más títulos ha ganado en Venezuela, tiene en su equipo a jugadores que ha descubierto, entrenado o formado, lo que le da un plus al conocerlos a la perfección.
Es el caso de Ronald Vargas, Roberto Rosales, Josef Martínez, Alexander González, Franklin Lucena, César González o Fernando Aristeguieta.
Vargas y Alejandro Guerra son los llamados a orquestar el juego ofensivo con pases profundos o descolgadas por las bandas para Martínez o Seijas y José Salomón Rondón.
