The Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas meet for the second time in three weeks when the Western Conference foes face off in the second game of the Viernes de Fútbol doubleheader at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Rapids claimed their
first win of the season with their first goals with a 4-0 win at FC Dallas two weeks ago in Frisco. Colorado weren’t able to build upon that win, suffering a 3-1 defeat by Seattle Sounders FC in Commerce City last week, while FC Dallas bounced back with a 3-2 win against Toronto FC at Toyota Stadium.
  • Fabian Castillo scored his second career two-goal game in MLS, as FC Dallas snapped their three-game winless run with a 3-2 win against Toronto FC on Saturday at Toyota Stadium. Castillo’s goal after just 29 seconds in the win vs. TFC was the quickest goal in FCD club history, and the 16th-fastest goal ever in MLS.
  • Gabriel Torres scored for a second consecutive match, but the Rapids weren’t able to build upon their first win of the year, falling 3-1 to Seattle Sounders FC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park over the weekend. Torres and Dillon Powers each have one goal and two assists this season; the pair has figured in every one of Colorado’s six goals this season.
  • The teams are meeting for the second time this season, and the second time in three weeks. The Rapids put an end to their long winless and goalless streaks with a dominant 4-0 win vs. FC Dallas on April 10 at Toyota Stadium.
  • FC Dallas won on their last trip to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, a 1-0 victory in the final meeting a year ago. The Rapids have won just one of their last four home matches against FCD. The Rapids’ win in the first meeting this year was their first in Frisco since 2012, and ended a three-game FCD winning streak in the series.

LAST MEETING (MLS)
4/10: DAL 0, COL 4 (Badji 2; Powers 43; Torres 70; Serna 85)
  • The Rapids scored their first league goal in six months and more than 10 hours of play in just the second minute. Dominique Badji put an end to the streak of attacking futility in style, turning home a Dillon Powers cross from the right wing from close range into the back of the net.
  • Powers doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, taking a feed on the left side of the FCD area, turning around a defender and driving at the goal before unleashing a low, left-footed blast inside the far post.
  • The score became 3-0 in the 70th minute when Juan Ramirez corralled the ball in the box and laid it off for Gabriel Torres, who slammed home a right-footed blast from the edge of the area.
  • The rout was complete five minutes from time when Dillon Serna drove forward out of midfield and hammered a well-taken left-footed missile from well outside the penalty area that beat Seitz high.
  • FC DALLAS (4-2-3-1): Chris Seitz - Je-Vaughn Watson, Zach Loyd, Walker Zimmerman, Moises Hernandez (Atiba Harris 46) - Victor Ulloa, Michel (Kyle Bekker 46) - Ryan Hollingshead (Michael Barrios 75), Tesho Akindele, Fabian Castillo - Blas Perez.
